How We Prepare
Prep is where the hours go and where the finish lasts. Here is the sequence for interior painting.
- 01Remove or cover all furniture and cover floors with rosin paper and plastic
- 02Fill nail holes, dents, and scratches with spackle or joint compound
- 03Caulk gaps between trim and walls
- 04Sand patched areas smooth and spot-prime them
- 05Clean all surfaces to remove dust, grease, and grime
- 06Tape off adjacent surfaces and mask hardware
What Drives The Price
Every estimate is different. These are the factors that move the number on a interior painting project.
Factor
---
Square footage of wall and ceiling surface
Condition of existing walls — repairs add time
Number of colors and accent walls
Coat count — dark colors over light often need three
Trim and door linear footage
Ceiling height and access equipment
Product line and sheen selection
No dollar figures here — every project is different. Call for a real number.
On DFW Properties
North Texas summers push HVAC systems hard, which means dust and dry air that affect how paint adheres and cures indoors.
Blackland Prairie clay underneath DFW homes shifts with drought and rain, producing hairline cracks in drywall that need to be addressed before painting.
Many 1950s–60s homes in Haltom City and East Fort Worth have layered oil-based trim paint that needs bonding primer before a water-based topcoat will stick.
Newer builds in Keller, Southlake, and Grapevine often have high ceilings and extensive trim packages that add access and detail work.
How To Compare Estimates
Not all estimates cover the same work. Here is what to check when comparing bids for interior painting.
Which surfaces are listed in the scope
What prep steps are included — patching, caulking, sanding, priming
Whether primer is specified and what type
Coat count per surface
Product line and sheen
How floors and furniture are protected
Cleanup and haul-away
What is excluded
Who moves furniture
How change orders are handled
Common Questions
We ask that you remove small items, electronics, and fragile pieces. We move larger furniture away from the walls and cover it. We protect all floors with rosin paper and plastic sheeting every day we are in your home.
Reviews
"Very impressed with this company. It is a family. They all play a role. They came to our house to make a bid. I had a price that evening. Once we decided on Cast Castro, we set a date (literally 2 days later!). They arrived on time. They worked as a team, were very professional and meticulous, kept the house as clean as possible, and finished when promised."

"Happy with the professional work Cast Castro did for our exterior paint job and for the right price. They replaced rotted wood, meticulously prepped the house and painted samples on parts of the house to get an idea of the finished work. Cast Castro is thorough in their process."
